Harford Plein Air 2017 (Oct 8-15 2017) is the third annual juried plein air painting competition hosted by Maryland Center for the Arts. Painting "en plein air" (French expression for "in the open air") is painting outdoors while capturing the beauty of landscapes, cityscapes, and seascapes. Harford County, MD is perfect for plein air painting, providing beautiful farmland, historic mills and lighthouses, natural parks and gardens, charming cities, and inlets and rivers to the Chesapeake Bay. Thirty artists from all over the U.S. will be selected through a jurying process to paint in the festival. The festival includes painting at several outdoor locations in Harford County where art enthusiasts can watch artists paint, gallery receptions to view and purchase the finished masterpieces, and a quick draw competition in downtown Bel Air that is open to artists ages 5 and up to paint outdoor cityscapes at the Farmer's Market and historic Main Street.
